4 more sleeps until Christmas!

Posted on: December 21, 2010

I hope that you are ready for the big day. I have a couple of things, yet, to pick up, my sister’s gifts are still unwrapped. And, oh, yeah, they have to go from Texas to Minnesota. We’ve already agreed that we will both send so that the gifts get there after Christmas. That’s what happens when there are no children involved in the gift-giving!

I’ve been a sewing/crafting machine this week, thus 2 posts in one week! I know you are all a-quiver with excitement to see what I’ve been working on.

First, is a Christmas ornament…it’s kind of origami’d on a styrofoam ball. I drew the name of a co-worker for Secret Santa who listed black, white, and grey as her favorite colors. Hence, the black and white ornament as an add-on to her gift.

Cute, huh?

In case you want to make your own, the tutorial I used is here. My only note is that where it says you need 16 2.5 inch squares of 3 different fabrics, they mean 16 of EACH, not 16 TOTAL.

She’s also a big lover of Starbucks…so I decided she needed a mug rug. This is a selvage rug. I think it turned out really cute!

And, the back is, of course, black/grey:

Finally, a little something for me. My friend, Diana, and I had a little shopping expedition on Saturday. We went to a small fabric store called City Craft. They sell a lot of Anna Maria Horner fabric. Diana had seen the “Figure 8” scarf on Anna Maria’s blog and wanted to make one of her own. Since it was cute as heck, I decided to make one for myself as well. Since my gift-making was done, tonight was a night for sewing for me. The scarf turned out really cute and I can’t wait to wear it tomorrow. Please excuse the way I look – it’s late and I got up in the middle of the night last night to check out the eclipse, so I’m extra tired.

That’s it for me…the wash machine has finished spinning, so I need to take care of the clothes and head to bed.

Happy 1st day of Winter! (The high in Dallas was 85 degrees today. I have the a/c on!)
