In Honor of Memorial Day…

Posted on: May 25, 2009

and all those who have served in the Armed Forces. I’ve been thinking about all the people in my life, those who will always be a part of my life and those who have passed through, who are serving or have served in the military, and this post is to say thank you to them. Grandpa, Dad, Uncle Keith, Mark, Daniel, James, Miriam, Tom, Marco, Peter, Darren, Scott, Janet…

My friend, Diann, sent me this e-mail a few days ago.

It is the
VETERAN,
not the preacher,
who has given us freedom of religion.

It is
the VETERAN,
not the reporter,
who has given us freedom of the press.

It is
the VETERAN,
not the poet,
who has given us freedom of speech.

It is
the VETERAN,
not the campus organizer,
who has given us freedom to assemble.

It is
the VETERAN,
not the lawyer,
who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is
the VETERAN,
not the politician,
Who has given us the right to vote.

(I’m not sure who this should be attributed to…)
