Sisterhood and Row Robin Swap

Posted on: May 17, 2009

Last weekend, I got my block ready for this Thursday’s Sisterhood meeting.  I had Celia’s block.  She wants scrappy blocks.  And, she wanted cheerful.  So, after a long, hard search, I found this great block on Quilter’s Cache called Sunny Lanes.  It was really difficult for me to do scrappy, but I managed to use a different piece of fabric for each of the little blocks.

Then, my Row Robin Swap row was due to be sent out on Friday.  On my 3rd attempt, I came up with something that I really like and that I think fits the beachy theme Robin wanted.

This is about 15 or 20 inches in the center of the row.  Robin’s initial row had a lot of colors and movement in it, so I went with something a little more simple.

Also coming up this week:  I’m starting a new class at TQW…a monthly block for a sampler quilt.  I’m using the Soiree line from Moda.  I also need to get started on my mini quilt for the swap going on at Quilting Gallery.  For that I’m using the Sultry line by Basic Grey.  It’s fabulous!  I have a pattern picked out and can’t wait to get started on it!

What I’m reading:  The Kingmaking by Helen Hollick.  Book One of the Pendragon’s Banner Trilogy.  Young Arthur and Gwen – before the Knights of the Round Table existed.  I’m enjoying it.

My car book is Fatally Flaky by Diane Mott Davidson.  I’ve been enjoying this series for quite a while.  This is the latest in the Goldilocks Catering series.

Last week was Children’s Literature Week.  I picked up a couple books to read in celebration:  Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt…since it wasn’t published until 1975 (5th grade), I guess I am too old to have had it as required reading.  It’s my back-up car book right now.  I also picked up Staying Fat for Sarah Byrnes by Chris Crutcher, which was recommended by one of the women on one of my Trixie message boards.  Haven’t started this one, yet.

And, what are you doing this week?
